Paraxylene
Used as a feedstock in the production of terephthalic acid (TPA), a precursor for polyester fibres and resins.
Polyester Production: terephthalic acid used to produce polyethylene terephthalate (PET), a widely used plastic. PET is commonly found in:
- Bottles
- Clothing fibers
- Food containers and films
Plasticizers: are added to plastics to increase their flexibility and durability.
Chemical Intermediates: manufacture of other chemicals, including dimethyl terephthalate (DMT), which is used in the production of polyester, and various solvents.
Aromatic Hydrocarbons: part of the family of aromatic hydrocarbons and can be involved in other chemical synthesis processes in the petrochemical industry
